Join the Big Library EBook Read

May 14, 2013

The High Point Public Library will be participating in a community eBook read event from May 15-June 1. This event allows access to an ebook for library users to read simultaneously. The book chosen for this first event is “The Four Corners of the Sky” by NC author Michael Malone.

Anyone with a valid High Point Public Library (or NCDL member library) card will be able to download the eBook version of this title from the North Carolina Digital Library (http://ncdigital.lib.overdrive.com  ). The title will be available to enjoy on all major devices, including Kindle® (US only) and iPad®, as well as in the browser via OverDrive Read™.

To provide an opportunity to discuss your impressions of the book High Point Public Library has created a Goodreads group to facilitate an online book discussion.  Discussion questions will be posted regularly throughout the program to which group members can respond.  This group is by invitation only, so please email Julie Raynor if you want to participate. You’ll need to create a free account at www.goodreads.com to join in.

For more information about how to access the North Carolina Digital Library, details about the book discussion, and general information about the event contact Julie Raynor at 883-3093 or julie.raynor@highpointnc.gov.

You can also visit OverDrive’s event site: http://www.biglibraryread.com/big-library-read/.

Updates to the North Carolina Digital Library

March 12, 2013

If you haven’t visited the North Carolina Digital Library in the last few months, there have been some great changes made to it.  The process has been simplified to take most of the guesswork out of it for you.  If you haven’t tried it out before, this would be a great time.  We’ve also just updated all of our handouts that you can download and print from the library’s website.  This service is free to all library cardholders and you can see titles that can be downloaded from the library’s online catalog. For more information, or to get an in person tutorial on how to use it contact Julie Raynor at 883-3093 or julie.raynor@highpointnc.gov.
