Storytime Programs

All storytime programs are held in the Library Storyroom. Please try to arrive on time.  Please call 336-883-3666 for more information.


BookWorm Storytime-  June 23 & July 7, 14, 21, 28 at 10:00 in the Storyroom.  A active storytime program for children 12-23 months and their caretakers. No registration required.

Time for Two's Storytime-  June 23 & July 7, 14, 21, 28 at 11:00 in the StoryroomA very active storytime program for two year olds and their caretakers including songs, stories and a simple craft. No registration required.

Family Storytime - June 23 & July 7, 14, 21, 28 at 6:30 in the Storyroom. A fun interactive storytime for all ages.  No registration required.

Preschool Storytime - June 24 & July 8, 15, 22, 29 at 2:00 in the Storyroom. A storytime program for 3-5 year olds including a craft.  No registration required.

Sign Language Storytime -  June 24 & July 8, 15, 22, 29 at 3:30 in the StoryroomA storytime program using the basics of sign language.  Registration Required

    Special Programs

    Occasionally we have musicians, animal shows, acrobats, jugglers, magicians, storytellers etc. come to the library for a special show. Or we might offer a holiday program, a carnival, bingo or some other fun event for kids.

    Storytime with Animalsstories with live animals presented by the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science – for children ages 4 and up. Friday, June 19 at 11:00 in the Storyroom.   No registration is required.

    Cartooning Workshop  Learn the basics of cartooning – presented by cartoonist Steve Barr. For school age children. Saturday, June 20 at 2:00 in the Storyroom.   Registration Required.

    Farmer Minor and Daisy the Pig  Pig out on reading with stories and fun featuring Farmer Minor and Daisy the Pig.  Monday, June 22 at 11:00 in the Storyroom. No registration is required.

    Scrapbooking for Kids  Learn about various scrapbooking techniques while starting your own scrapbook – for school age children.  June 23 & July 7, 14, 21, 28 at 3:00 in the Storyroom.  Registration Required..

    The Magic Tree House Club  Stories, crafts and games focusing on the popular children's book series, The Magic Tree House. For school age children.  June 24 & July 8, 15, 22, 29 at 11:00 in the Storyroom.   Registration Required.

    Big Bang Boom  Rock out to local rockers Big Bang Boom – everyone will do the hokey pokey!  Thursday, June 25 at 10:00 at Oakview Recreation Center.  No registration is required.

    Culinary Kids is a hands on food program where kids learn about making healthy food choices.  For school age children.  June 25, July 15, & August 20 at 6:30 in the Storyroom.  No registration is required.

    Activity Story Theatre  Children’s Theatre with lots of audience participation.  Monday, June 29 at 11:00 and 6:30 in the Storyroom.  No registration is required.

    Tie Dye @ the Museum Come tie-dye with us. We provide everything you need except for the t-shirt.  Wednesday, July 1, 10:00 - 12:00 at High Point Historical Museum.  No registration is required.

    Tracy Thornton and his Steel Drum Music from the islands.  Monday, July 6 at 11:00 at Oakview Recreation Center.  No registration is required.

    Rolie Polie Guacamole Rock out and dance to this Indie Kids band from the east coast.  Thursday, July 9 at 11:00 at Oakview Recreation Center & at 6:30 in the Storyroom.  No registration is required.

    Growing Up in the Animal World  Presented by the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science for children ages 4 and up.  Friday, July 10 at 11:00 in the Storyroom.  No registration is required but seating is limited.

    Birds of Prey  Come learn about and see a variety of birds of prey.  Saturday, July 11 at 2:00 in the Storyroom.  No registration is required but seating is limited.

    Alina Celeste- Singer songwriter from Miami.  Monday, July 13 at 11:00 and 6:30 in the Storyroom.  No registration is required but seating is limited.

    Flow Circus  Juggling, magic and improve comedy with Paul Miller.  Thursday, July 16 at 11:00 at Oakview Recreation Center & at 6:30 in the Storyroom.  No registration is required.

    Johnette Downing  Children’s music straight from Lousiana -- musician and author Johnette Downing.  Friday, July 17 at 11:00 and 4:00 in the Storyroom.  No registration is required but seating is limited.

    Meet the Groundhogs  Learn all about groundhogs and meet a couple too.  Saturday, July 18 at 2:00 in the Storyroom.  No registration is required but seating is limited.

    Heroic Herps- an educational program with live animals.  Monday, July 20 at 11:00 and 6:30 in the Storyroom.  No registration is required but seating is limited.

    Donna Pruett the Balloon Lady  Balloon sculpting like you have never seen before.  Thursday, July 23 at 11:00 and 6:30 in the Storyroom.  No registration is required but seating is limited.

    Butterflies  Presented by staff from All-A-Flutter Butterfly Farm.  Friday, July 24 at at 11:00 in the Storyroom.  No registration is required but seating is limited.

    American Girl Program  A program for school age children based on the American Girl book series.  Saturday, July 25 at 1:30 in the Storyroom.  Registration Required.

    Snakes Alive  Learn about and experience all kinds of snakes.  Monday, July 27 at 11:00, 3:00 and 6:30 in the Storyroom.  No registration is required but seating is limited.

    Shadow Factory-  an amazing shadow puppet theater production.  Thursday, July 30 at 11:00 and 6:30 in the Storyroom.  No registration is required but seating is limited.

    Hampstead Stage Company presents Robin Hood-  A fun and active children’s theater staging of the classic heroic tale. August 3 at 11:00 in the Storyroom. No registration is required.

    Magic with Steve Somers- Magic and comedy. August 6 at 11:00 at Oakview Recreational Center & 6:30 in the Storyroom. No registration is required.

    April Turner—African Stories and Dance-  African stories, music and dance. August 8 at 2:30 in the Storyroom.  No registration is required but seating is limited.

    Dance Week presents The North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble- Tap dancing. August 11 at 11:00 at Oakview Recreation Center & at 6:30 in the Storyroom. No registration is required.

    Martial Arts Demonstration-  A program presented by Macon’s Martial Arts Academy for children and parents too. August 12 at 3:00 in the Storyroom. No registration is required.
