Library Cards and Overdue Fees

All Guilford County taxpayers, all residents of High Point or Guilford County, and all current and retired employees of the City of High Point receive library cards free of charge.  Other library users should pay the current fee established by the Board for obtaining library cards (currently $40 per year). Smartcards which allow only computer access can be purchased by non-residents for $5 (this is a one time fee, with no expiration).

Overdue fines are charged on items that are not returned by the date due. The charge is 10 cents per day per item. In addition, there is a fee for replacing lost library cards.

  • $1.00 for the second keychain card issued
  • $3.00 for the third keychain card

If you owe fines amounting to $1 or more, materials may not be checked out or renewed until the fines are paid. Online renewals are also restricted to fines of any amount.
